Welcome to Authority Engine this is Ben Krueger. Today I’m going to show you how to link directly to your content in iTunes. This is incredibly helpful if you’re a podcaster or musician or if you just want to share content. Also if you have any apps, TV shows, books, really anything in the iTunes store you want to link directly but haven’t been able to or didn’t know how to.
Instead of sending people to the iTunes website where users have to click through again to iTunes, you can now send them in the express lane direct to iTunes. This will help your content get more downloads, subscribes, ratings, reviews and in general be less hassle to access (which is an obvious win for everyone).
Find the content you want to link to in the iTunes store
Right click on the iTunes badge for that content and copy link
Change the ‘https’ part of the link to ‘itms’
Use your new ‘itms’ link to send traffic direct to iTunes
If you’re trying to use your newfound powers to link up to iTunes content in your social media, the ‘itms’ link is often too long and unsightly. I’ve discovered that the best approach for this is to use a URL shortener, but most don’t work, but here’s on that will:
Go to TinyURL.com
Insert your ‘itms’ link into the URL shortener and type in your new link
Have a social media heyday with your new short, pretty link
You now have the power to link directly to your iTunes content whether it’s your podcast, music album, application or ebook. You also have a new permanent shortlink you can use and re-use to direct traffic straight from social media sites to promote your best content and enable easy sharing from your fans to new listeners, subscribers and potential customers.
